Heave plates are widely used in the industry to influence behavior of floating bodies. This includes e.g. reducing platform motions for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines.
At Mocean we recognize the benefits of correctly understanding and representing their influence in our analyses. Using OpenFOAM this study verified accurate representation of the hydrodynamic coefficients of a heave-plate design.
