Mocean has supported the Ocean Cleanup with mooring design and analysis for the interceptors in Dominican Republic, United States, Malaysia and more. Along with validation studies, design support of novel barriers and the design of buoys.
During this project, Mocean supported with designing the barriers and buoys. Time domain simulations were conducted to determine the dynamic behavior of the barrier and the loads on the buoy. In addition, CFD simulations were done to track trash particles in the surrounding of the barrier. This was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the barrier.
